The School Committee Released the Crozier Executive Session Minutes. The Decision Is Still Redacted.

The Sudbury School Committee voted on July 6 to release the minutes of four executive sessions it held on the separation of former Superintendent Brad Crozier. They are published in full below.

The minutes cover meetings held on February 5, February 9, March 2, and March 13, 2026. They document negotiations over Crozier’s exit. They do not reveal why the Committee decided it wanted him to leave.

By the time the earliest released session began on February 5, Committee Chair Karyn Jones and the Committee’s attorney had already met with Crozier. According to the minutes, they informed him that the Committee “intended to” take an action that remains redacted and advised him of a right that also remains redacted.

The minutes say Crozier was given that advance notice “as a courtesy so that the Superintendent would not be surprised.”

His attorney responded several days later with a proposal concerning his contract. In other words, the earliest executive-session minutes the Committee has released begin after Crozier had already been told of the Committee’s intentions and after the process leading to his departure was underway.

The substance of what the Committee authorized during the four released sessions is also withheld. Five motions concerning the superintendent’s contract passed by votes of 4-1, with Nicole Burnard voting no each time. But the operative language of every motion is redacted under exemptions cited for attorney-client communications, personnel information, and settlement discussions between attorneys.

The released minutes therefore show the mechanics of a negotiated separation without disclosing the decision that set those negotiations in motion.

The committee has still never publicly said why it removed him.
